Project Description
The aim of the project was the full renovation (from outer wall to outer wall, including sewerage pipes and track renewal) of the regional road N9 Brusselsesteenweg in Ghent, from the interchange with the Schooldreef in Gentbrugge, to the interchange with the R40 in Ghent, and alongside the city road Brusselsespoorstraat to the Ommegangstraat.
With respect to the track renewal, the following work was carried out:
- Guarantee of continuous tram operations and connection to depot
- Removal of tram rails and the catenary system
- Installation of:
- Tram track in reinforced cement/concrete paving – hybrid system DS-Isorail
- Tram track in green zone
- Tram track on bridges with limited superstructure – cast track system with U-containers
- 3 points complexes
- Catenary system:
- Renewal of catenary system including masts
- Temporary removal of catenary system
- Points operation:
- Renewal of 3 different systems for points operation and signalling
